Artists

Muriel Bush is a Vancouver Island artist whose nature-based work focuses on the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. A graduate of the Emily Carr College of Art & Design she works in oil, acrylic, pastels as well as pen & ink.

Sandra Russell is a retired elementary teacher who based her first children's book on her beloved cat name Callie. Her daughter Eryn, an Early Childhood Educator, did the charming illustrations. This book is geared to children 3+ and included in the back are discussion notes for teachers and parents.

The eagle symbolizes great intellectual abilities with grace and power. It is the ruler of the sky and has the ability to transform itself. It is sacred, noble and wise, representing power and prestige to the Coast Salish First Nations.

The Watchmen are known to have supernatural powers. They protect the village  by warning the Chief of any approaching danger. As the poles age, in keeping with Snuneymuxw and other Pacific Northwest First Nations tradition, they were laid down as they became unstable so that they may slowly decay and...
