In 1957, renowned wildlife artist Robert Bateman and spirited biologist Bristol Foster set out on a global expedition, in a rugged Land Rover they christen "The Grizzly Torque".  Starting in the UK, their travels take them to the far corners of the earth.  From the lush rainforests of the Congo to the vibrant landscapes of India, Bob paints the wonders they encounter, while Bristol films on his 16mm Bolex camera.

Now iconic figures in their fields, Bateman and Foster continue to stir up excitement with their eco-conscious adventures.  Featuring dazzling archival footage and vibrant artistic depictions, this film offers a road movie experience, blending buddy humour and environmental awe.

Through in-depth interviews with friends and family and the original 16mm film footage of their incredible journey, director Alison Reid shows how the trip expanded the pair’s knowledge of the physical world while deepening their spiritual and emotional connection to it. A heartwarming, inspirational love letter to the adventure of life itself.
