Saburo Murata-
….was born in Kyoto, Japan and was schooled in Tokyo. After studying sax and composition at the Shobi College of Music in Tokyo, Saburo began his professional music career performing on cruise ships throughout Micronesia. He then went on to tour throughout Japan with a group playing the music and arrangements of American bands Blood Sweat And Tears, and Chicago. Still later he had a long career as a studio musician in Tokyo.
Saburo plays flute, soprano and alto saxophones. Listen to Desert Moon on you tube and you will hear his wonderful playing and arranging. This recording utilizes Japanese folk songs to express his nostalgia for his homeland.
In addition to his music activities, Saburo is a passionate fly fisherman. He ties his own flies in an effort to lure the local fishes on to his hooks. He is quite often successful at this and enjoys going fishing with Dave Klinger, another fishin’ musician.
