Art Gems: Mar 25 - Mosaics Using Smalti with Debra Hagen
Discover the possibilities for creating beautiful mosaics using smalti (coloured glass), a traditional tesserae that has been used for thousands of years. In this class you will have the opportunity to work with both Italian and Mexican smalti to create a simple mosaic on a 6” x 6” substrate. All tools and materials are supplied.Â
About the Instructor:Â
Debra has experimented with a variety of art forms and studied with many accomplished artists, but for the past 20 years, she has focused on mosaics. During that time, she has completed a Masters in Mosaic class at Orsoni’s Glass Factory in Venice, Italy, as well as several other classes with internationally respected mosaic artists. Her mosaics are created with a wide variety of tesserae and include fine art for the wall, jewellery and outdoor mosaics. She is a member of a number of mosaic associations. She enjoys teaching and sharing her enthusiasm for mosaics with others.
