Rock the Park Music Festival Event Information
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
All parking areas in Parksville Community Park are open to the public and may be utilized on a first-come first-served basis. “Rock the Park” patrons may access the public parking lots within the park; however, we anticipate these lots will fill up quickly. We encourage festival attendees to consider alternatives like parking off-site and walking to the theatre. For those requiring accessible parking there are a limited number of designated accessible spaces available in the park.
Festival Entry Gates
Gates will be open each day 1.5 hours before the first scheduled performance. Box Office will open before that so you can purchase tickets or pick up your wristbands from your online orders.
General Festival Seating
Other than the 400 chairs sold with the VIP Tickets, chairs are not provided within the concert area. Festival attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on.
Once through the gate, ushers will be available to guide attendees in the placement of their chairs/blankets in rows. This will help maximize seating in the festival area and improve everyone’s concert experience. All attendees will be issued a wristband which will allow them to come and go throughout the day. Attendees’ chairs/blankets may be left for a short time within the same day but must be removed when leaving for the day. Personal belongings are the responsibility of attendees.
Seating for VIP & Accessible Patrons
VIP wristbands are labelled as “VIP” along with an assigned day. VIP ticket holders will sit in the VIP seating area, with chairs provided. VIP seats are not assigned as such, first-come-first-served daily. Only those attendees with a VIP wristband will be able to sit in this section. A separate entrance for those possessing VIP Wristbands and those with accessibility needs will be adjacent to the access road leading from Ravenhill Road into the theatre as indicated by signage.
Festival Wristband Entry
A wristband is required for entry to the concert venue. Each day has its own specific colour and day denoted in a box printed on your wristband. Please ensure you arrive with the proper coloured wristband. If you have paid for tickets but not picked up your wristband at the McMillan Arts Centre beforehand, they may be picked up at the Box Office. Children 12 and under accompanied by a paid adult are admitted free of charge and do not require a wristband.
Food Trucks and Washrooms
A few food trucks and portable washrooms will be located within the fenced festival area and will only be accessible to patrons with festival wrist bands/tickets. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets as well.
We don’t expect rain but please dress and prepare accordingly for weather conditions. Tents are not provided for festival attendees. Please do not erect tents that can obstruct views of other attendees.
First Aid with qualified personnel and equipment will be in the picnic shelter.
Garbage & Recycling
Garbage and recycling containers will be located throughout the concert area. Kindly assist our festival volunteers by placing your waste in the proper receptacles and helping us to keep the area clean and safe for everyone.
Smoking & Liquor Consumption
Smoking and the consumption of liquor are not allowed within the festival venue. There is scheduled to be a beer and wine garden at the beach boardwalk during the festival.
Only non-breakable cups may be used for beverages. For safety reasons, glass containers are not permitted.
Dogs will be not allowed in the concert area, however service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome. Please be prepared to present digital or paper verification.
Ravenhill Road Access
Ravenhill Road, which parallels the concert area, will be closed except for emergency vehicles and restricted traffic only (e.g. bands & food trucks).
Yes, we do have Rock the Park merch! You can order it online here, or you can get it at the event. There are limited quantities for this inaugural event, so we recommend ordering it online and wearing it to the Festival. We can't guarantee having inventory at the event itself.
