Feb 6 PM – All That Glitters: Silversmithing Earrings with Valerie Harty

This silversmith class is designed to introduce the students to the joy of silversmithing with a simple but beautiful project. In this class the students will make a sterling-silver pair of earrings starting from a simple silver blank.

By the end of the session, everyone will have an understanding of the basic skills and tools needed to embark on what could be a fantastic creative  journey. This introduction to jewelry making will have the student design, learn to use a torch, shape, drill, and texture their piece.

See you there!

All supplies included in this class.

About the Instructor:  Valerie Harty’s journey as an artist began the moment she left her position as a Financial Planner at RBC. From that moment on, Art in all its forms became a primary focus of her daily life.

After a chance encounter with a teacher from the North Island College, she enrolled in their full-time program to become a Silversmith. Since graduating, Valerie has spent most of her time promoting silversmithing through various classes and demonstrations.

Valerie’s Metal Arts Studio is fully equipped and offers classes and spaces for creators of any level in Makerspace downstairs at the MAC.
