This workshop will introduce basic design fundamentals of line, shape, texture, and space and to provide practice using these concepts to create artwork.
Discover the elements of design (line, shape, texture, space) and enhance your art making. Participants will explore how these concepts can be applied to their own art practice. This 2-day course will include interactive discussion and viewing of textile artwork as well as a variety of hands-on activities using different art mediums to reinforce the information in a fun way. Learning about the elements of design will help participants advance their creative process.
Prerequisite: Colour Theory or Textile Colour Exploration

About the Instructor: Margie Davidson has taught at the Art Gallery of Alberta, working with all ages in painting, pastel, collage, fibre art, and screen printing. She has a B.Ed. from Queens University, was a full-time teacher with the Calgary School Board. Margie has been teaching quilting courses since 1994, and in 2013, she was awarded CQA/ACC teacher of the year.
Margie is well-known at the MAC for her courses, Art Bites classes, exhibits, and her work is a regular item in the Artisan Gift Shop.
