Take Your Imagination on a Wild Ride!
Announcing a Blockbuster Season of Storytelling for Adults Concerts at the MAC
Remember the magic created by listening to a well-told story? Well you donât have to go far to experience that again. Because Mid-Island Storytellers (MIST) will present a stellar lineup of Friday night storytelling performances guaranteed to bring a little magic into your world.
MIST kicks off the season (to get you in the mood for Halloween), on Friday, October 25 with Scary Tales of Mystery & Imagination. On January 24, youâll be regaled with stories about Women Who Braved The World, followed by the ever-popular Tales from Newfoundland & The Maritimes on Friday, February 28.
The season wraps on Friday, May 23 with delightful Tales From the Arabian Nights.
The highlight of the 2025 MIST season is the nationally recognized storyteller from Ottawa, Kathie Kompass, who will share stories from her recently released CD, Fables, Fancies, and Facts on Friday, April 25. A wonderful mix of Kathieâs original stories with tales from around the world. âI enjoy folktales for their universality, their truth, wisdom and sly humour. And for the way they have endured, by reshaping themselves as theyâre passed along, down through the ages,â says Kathie.
The Slice of Life â Dare to Share concerts â featuring âreal stories by real people,â will be presented on Friday, November 22 and Friday, March 25. Often unbelievable but always true!
Itâs an art to tell stories from our lives and keep your audience interested and engaged. But an art you can learn. Interested in pursuing this? Then, MIST can help. Slice of Life â Dare to Share stories are told by individuals whoâve learned this artform. And the MIST professional storytelling artist, Susan Warner, will work with you if youâd like to tell, but need a little help gaining the comfort and confidence to do so. For more information, contact Susan at rootswings@shaw.ca.
Why not come to one, or more of our concerts? Theyâre held at the McMillan Arts Centre, doors open at 6:30pm and shows start at 7pm. Itâs a wonderful opportunity to listen, learn and immerse yourself in storytelling for adults by professional and local storytellers.
Tickets cost $20 for the Tales for Telling series ($18 for MIST members) â with a special season ticket price of $75 for all five shows. And tickets for the Slice of Life series cost $12 ($10 for MIST members).
